As you'll see in the video, these horses are outgoing and friendly, seeming more like Golden Retrievers than horses. I was so impressed with their quiet, gentle way, it inspired me. These horses were so much in the present moment, and so willing to be of service--two traits I work to amplify in myself.
In fact, I believe that the traits we work hardest on are the ones most important, not only for my own life and those I'm connected to, but for past and future generations. Those problems and conundrums of living could be seen as the unfinished business of our ancestors. And by taking this level of responsibility for the flaws and issues of my ancestors expressing through me, I can actually alter my DNA, so that it clears those issues for future ancestors.
There's a great article by Dr. Judith Rich, "Healing the Wounds of Your Ancestors." In it, Dr. Rose quotes George Bernard Shaw:
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake."
To me, this is what this project called Life is all about, and it becomes all the more meaningful--and useful--by assuming the responsibility to clear the issues, flaws and foibles of our past and future ancestors.
Boyd Martin has written an excellent article for this issue, "Meditation All the Time," and it offers a way to spot and blow through tons of personal "junk" to get to that clear, calm space at the center of the heart were the creation of a loving and creative life takes place--just like our horse friends seemed to demonstrate to us in such a loving way.
Until next time...
In vibrant health,
